Joel Einleger is a Senior Program Officer and AVI CHAI’s Director of Strategy, Camping Programs. In his 15 years at the Foundation, Joel has overseen the growth of its investments in overnight Jewish camps and worked towards collaborations among grantees and funders in the field. In his earlier years at AVI CHAI he was responsible for a range of day school projects, and is now working to sustain the Foundation’s investment in a Judaics and Hebrew language day school curriculum by helping its creators adapt it for a digital learning environment.
Prior to AVI CHAI, Joel spent 20 years in the business world working for Pan Am, the New York Times and Pioneer Electronics, culminating as president of a national marketing services firm. He has an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. A product of Jewish day schools and summer camps, Joel is happy to have traded the corporate world for the opportunity to work in Jewish philanthropy and meeting remarkable Jewish educators in many different venues.
