Leah Nadich Meir has been a Program Officer at The AVI CHAI Foundation since October 2000. Her varied portfolio at the Foundation includes projects to strengthen teaching and learning in Jewish day schools, especially in the areas of Hebrew language and Judaic studies; programs to enhance the quality of Jewish summer camping and develop national networks of camp alumni; and new initiatives to help Jewish day schools build their communities and recruit students through social media and video.
Before joining AVI CHAI, Leah worked in the field of mental health as a clinical social worker, psychotherapist and social service director. She served as a social worker and supervisor at the Ezrat Nashim Community Mental Health Center in Jerusalem and at Jewish Family Service agencies in Massachusetts, Montreal and New York. She also maintained a private practice in psychotherapy for 15 years. From 1989-2000, she served as the Executive Director of Jewish Family Service agencies in Rockland County (NY) and Bergen County (NJ).
Leah is actively involved in Congregation Beth Sholom in Teaneck, NJ. She serves on a variety of committees and is the facilitator of its “Chug Ivri”, a group that meets monthly to read and discuss Hebrew literature.
